Painting with Friends along the Davidson River, N.C.

Tree by the Davidson River
I had a wonderful day, the other day, painting with two new artist friends from Brevard on the Davidson River, in the Pisgah Forest. It was nice to have the company on a such beautiful day. We parked and walked down to the water's edge where it turned out to be a wonderful spot for the three of us. The sun was shining and the water was running clear. Without conferring with each other, we all chose to paint a "portrait" of a large tree whose roots had been laid bare many times by the rising and receding waters. It is always a joy to compare the works of different artists painting the very same tableau. Each vision is so different and yet, at the same time, loyal to the scene. This is the magic of painting outside with friends. I hope you like the results of my day!
